Charles Harper

I found these wonderful illustrations on the Flickr group, Charles Harper Fan Club.  Charles Harper was an American Modernist artist born in 1922 and who passed away in 2007.  He was reknowned for his wonderful images of birds and wildlife which he painted in a style he called minimal realism - above are just a few of his pictures. I just love this stylised work.

Kate Wilson

I'm having a bit of an illustration showcase today - there are so many talented artists out there  I wish I could draw half as good as them - unfortunately stick men is pretty much my domain! Anyhow, here is Kate Wilson, an artist from London who creates fantastic birdie illustrations, I came across her lovely drawings on Etsy and also via the lovely blog Peonies and Polaroids. Kate's drawings feature two of my favorite things - birds and sweet treats!  She also paints amazing watercolor fashion illustrations for clients such as Topman, The Guardian, Liberty and House of Holland.  Check out her lovely blog here and her Etsy shop here

Elsa Mora

I came across Elsa Mora via a link on the InspireInspire blog. What a talented lady - not only has she created these fabulous intricate papercuts, but also can turn her hand to all sorts of different aspects of design - all with amazing results, from toys to jewellery and illustration. You can see Elsita's papercut blog here and all her other work here and purchase her work here

Yellena

I have recently been looking for some new artwork for our house to brighten up the walls.  I came across Yellena's work on Etsy  some time ago, and think this is just the ticket.  I had written a rather lame description of Yellena's wok, when I checked out her profile and realised someone else had done a much better job of describing her work so I scrapped mine and here is theirs instead:  "colorful arrangements of organic shapes and tangled lines which are at once floral and alien, organic and sci-fi, crafty and fantastic".  Yellena says she tries to create an intimate world that possesses its own ethos and own emotional range.  Her work has been shown worldwide and her illustrations have been used by Anthropologie, Nike and others and have graced the pages of many magazines including Vogue Australia and Domino.  There is something I find very relaxing about looking at these illustrations - even more reason to get a couple for my bedroom.

Julia Potts

I am in love with Julia Potts' illustrations and they not only come in wonderful postcards and prints but also in temporary tattoos like the lovely cat and dog design at the top and the shrinkies brooches like the 'look at me' bear above! Julia has an Etsy shop where you can check out more of her wonderful designs.

KJS Design

Another wonderful illustrator from the other side of the world. These works are by KJS Design, who is based in Tasmania and whose work you can see more of on Etsy. I love these - I recognise the girl in the first illustration - a famous australian model who I have seen many times in Elle and Vogue and on the catwalks.

Aussie Patches

Some beautiful drawings from Aussie Patches, another artist who sells her work on Etsy, who is, as her name suggests, from Australia. A place that seems to be brimming with design talent at the moment.
