Fiesta Fiesta!!

Well, the last assignment of Make Art That Sells Module B is finished (I missed 2 of them due to illness) but was pretty happy with how this one turned out.  Based on Folk style we were asked to come up with some party paper ware.  Not sure how much a cockerel says 'party' but it was good fun to do.

Birds of a feather...

...stick together, especially when they are both stuck in a party belljar! I think this print needs some text but not sure what yet. (Cant really use 'free as a bird' as they are are captive in the jar!)

I've got a pair of nasty bird ornaments that I sprayed gold for a DIY project that I keep in a belljar with some fircones and when I'm at my computer they stare at me from across the room. The other day I thought it might make a good picture.

Prints and Patterns - Brie Harrison

As Im such a big print and pattern fan, I thought I would dedicate this week to looking at some of my favorite designers - and there are quite a few! Most of these people I have found via PrintPattern, the fantastic blog dedicated to just that, print and pattern, and others I have found via Flickr and other design blogs over the last couple of years.  So first up is Brie Harrison, a talented card and textile designer from the UK.

Snappy Sausage

Snappy Sausage is the UK designer behind these wonderful treats.  Snappy Sausage goodies are available at the lovely UK online store, Bonbi Forest - I have my beady eye on those supercute Humphrey cat earrings - i'm allergic to real cats so this is the purrrrfect alternative!

Hello Memo

I was recently contacted by Helen of Hello Memo who makes these lovely accessories and homewares.  Helen is based in Suffolk and part of the Fine City Friends collective.  If you have a pet, Helen will also draw a lovely pic of your prize pooch or python and turn it into a wee brooch!  What a lovely idea - shame I don't have a pet - maybe thats an excuse to get one!

Hannah Turner's Birds

Another lovely gift I got was a lovely Hannah Turner bird.  Here are a few more of the wonderful ceramic songsters above.  I love the colours and almost 1950's look to them.  I have one on my dresser, but think he needs a pal !

Lucy Jane Batchelor

My lovely boyfriend bought me some great presents this Christmas, which I can't believe I forgot to mention before.  One of which was a lovely little tweed chap made by
Lucy Jane Batchelor. An artist based out of Cockpit Arts in London.  I had seen her lovely creatures at the Millenium Galleries Christmas Cracker exhibition in Sheffield before Christmas and my eagle eyed boyfriend must have spied me lurking around the Lucy Jane Batchelor creatures and got me my own one!  Lucky me! Above are some of her other lovely chaps!

Hen's Teeth

I came across Hen's Teeth on Flickr and wanted to share these wonderful works with you.  Viv of Hen's Teeth makes these wonderful collages using various mixed media often using vintage envelopes and stationery and is available on Etsy and you can see more of her work on her blog..

Naori Priestly

I came across these amazing pin cushions via Amelias Magazine.  They are made by Naori Priestly, a graduate of the RCA, and are just fantastic - Sit one of these lovely animals next to your sewing machine and you will probably get no work done as you will just be staring at your wonderful new pin cushion instead!

Candice Wren

I was recently contacted by a talented young fashion designer Candice Wren  who has recently set up her own business by the same name.  Candice takes her inspiration from vintage lace, pretty perfume bottles and old botany books and prints her designs on handpicked Turkish pashminas and also has some lovely t-shirts and other printed clothing.

All dressed up and nowhere to go...

Oh how I love the fantastic shoes of Hetty Rose, talented UK footwear designer.  If I had a pair of these beauties I would probably not leave the house, I'd just be staring at my wonderful purchases in the mirror all night long!

Veronica Buttons

Laura Walker, the talented button designer behind Veronica Buttons is actually based in the same city as me, Sheffield, in the UK.  I really love these buttons, I haven't ever seen any like it before - these would really jazz up your favorite coat, bag or cashmere cardi (or, in my case, one of Primark's finest twinsets!).   Laura has an Etsy store where you can see more of her wonderful creations.  Veronica Buttons will also be having a stall at the Spirit of Christmas fair at the Olympia in London, so if you are visiting the show make sure you check out the Veronica Button booth.
