Now there are over 500 posts on this blog, I thought I would re-visit some old posts and see what those people are up to these days. I originally did a short post about Tas-ka back in 2008 here, I was interested to see what they are up to now. Well, they now have have a brick and mortar shop in Den Haag, Netherlands and are still stocking well chosen products like the wonderful Marimekko teapot below. They design their own fabric which you can buy online too. I love all their designs but my favourite is the last image.

Christmas Craft No.1 - Stamp it out

I worked out a way of making super-quick stamps just using a cotton reel and a piece of foam sheet, which you can buy in most art and craft shops, they only cost about 50p a sheet, all I did was cut out the shape of stamp I wanted in the foam and glued it onto the cotton reel - you could glue it onto a wooden block, but I didnt have one to hand. I used the stamp to stamp on cloth and paper and its worked out pretty neat - think that's my xmas wrapping paper ideas sorted for this year!

Wristy business...

I love fabric covered bangles, but I can't justify spending over £10 on these, plus they always look better if you wear a couple at once, and that is easily £20 out of my near-empty purse. So I got a couple of charity shop plastic bangles for 50p each and re-fashioned them into something I'd be happy to wear on my wrist. All I did was cut a strip of pretty fabric slightly longer than the circumference of the bangle and twice as wide, then smothered the outside and inside of the bangle with PVA and stick the fabric onto it, tucking the edges into the inside of the bangle, then I gave the fabric another coat of PVA to seal it, left it to dry overnight and it was good to go.

Shoe Customisation Workshop 30 May

I'm doing some more workshops at Jam Jar Beads in Sheffield city centre this month. This shoe customisation workshop will be held on Sunday 30th May from 11am to 1pm and costs just £18. This is a fun and easy workshop where you can come with your own shoes and using our fabric and buttons/beads/ribbons, make removeable shoe embellishments to match your outfits and leave with one of a kind, exclusive pretties for your tootsies.
If you would like to book a place or would like more information, please email me at craftyworkshops@yahoo.co.uk

All aboard...

I did a post on Ann Wood's lovely birds ages ago but was drawn to her fairytale-like boats today, after visiting another blog. I just love these boats and best of all, on Ann's blog (via reloveprojects!) there is a tutorial on how to make yourself one of these beauties. Bank Holiday is coming up and I think I might try and tackle on one these beautiful vessels!

Karen Barbe

Gorgeous bedding with prints inspired by tile designs from Karen Barbe who is based in Santiago, Chile which I found via Bloesem. I am just in love with the colourways and the lovely designs. I can't wait to see more from Karen. The bottom image is a quilt Karen made for her sister as a wedding present - what a great gift! if I had one of these I'd constantly be hanging on the washing line to show off to neighbours!!

Daniel Moraes

Wow! This guy's work is incredible - I just found Daniel Moraes on Flickr and had to post about his work. Go and check out his work - it is fantastic! Those colors are just amazing (they look much brighter on his Flickr page than on my blog for some reason) and such a unique style. His work is the sort I dream of being able to do, but know that I will never be able to be anywhere near that standard!

Lotta Jansdotter
I love the simplicity of Lotta's work, the shapes seem so organic and work so well. Lotta has also written a few books on screen-printing, which are great for inspiration and ideas and for those of you lucky enough to be living in New York, Lotta runs classes too.

Prints and patterns - Angie Lewin

Angie Lewin is such a wonderfully talented printmaker. I aspire to one day be able to create work like Angie's - think I've got a very long way to go yet! She is currently exhibiting at the St Jude Gallery in Itteringham in Norfolk and I nearly had heart failure (in a good way - if thats possible!) when i saw that you can now buy fabric printed with Angie's designs here.

PataPri

I first found PataPri on Etsy last year where she has had much success and for good reason as you can see above her designs are so colorful and fun. I love the simplicity of her designs and the colors work so well together.

Pretty Walls

I found this lovely image on flickr some time ago on pretty & quirky's flickr page I love the mix of prints and colors and the lovely sets of vintage tins are really sweet. I've seen fabric displayed similarly before in embroidery hoops and in frames but I think i prefer it this way - I really love the simple but effective way of displaying pretty fabric.
