Some crafty goings on in Sheffield

I finally remembered to take my camera when I toddled off to teach my craft workshop this weekend. Here are a few shots of people crafting away making lots of different accessories. (fabric covered banges, fabric covered necklaces, fabric covered beads and embellished fabric hairbands) Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves and made lots of pretty goodies to take home. I am teaching one more workshop the weekend after next (laminated image fabric brooches) before I take a break from workshops to concentrate on trying to sort out my wedding stuff, website and other little projects. But, like Arnie, I'll be back - I'm working on a programme of workshops for later this year, so if you are interested keep your eyes out for my new website in the next month or so which will have all the details.

Upcoming workshops for the festive season

Christmas Presents workshop taking place at Jam Jar Beads, Sheffield on Saturday 11 December from 11am til 4pm. You will have the chance to make a pair of natty armwarmers, an applique t-cozie or cushion, a fabric beaded necklace and a cute birdie (or other animal of your choice!) mobile. Costs £25 and materials, nibbles and hot drinks are included. Clothing Customisation workshop taking place at Jam Jar Beads, Sheffield on Sunday 21st November from 11am til 2pm. Bring along your old clothes and revamp them using fabric, buttons, ribbons and beads to create lovely wearable new pieces that your wardrobe will be proud of. Costs £15 and materials, nibbles and hot drinks are included. Mums (and/or Dads!) and Kids Christmas Decoration workshop taking place at Jam Jar Beads on Saturday 27th November from 11am til 2pm. You will have the chance to make fabric wreaths, bunting, cards and lots of other decorations too to adorn your home this Christmas. Costs £15 and materials, nibbles and hot drinks are included. Back...

...... I'm back with a brand new adventure (Vanilla Ice fans, you know what I'm talking about, right??). I'm on a bit of a workshop mission at the moment. I did a shoe customisation workshop at Jam Jar Beads last weekend, it was a lovely morning and went well, so I am planning some more and adding some new workshops to the list in the next week or so, so keep checking back for more details if you fancy crafting up some crazy styles.

I'd love to hear what ideas you think would be great for crafty workshops and what sort of workshops you love going to too?

Ooh! I almost forgot, Yvonne (owner of fabulous Jam Jar Beads) and myself were on Radio Sheffield last week promoting her shop and my workshops, we were both so nervous, but it was fairly painless, guess it gives us experience for when we are rich and famous and sitting on the This Morning sofa (he he!)

Workshops

I am doing a couple of workshops over the next couple of months at Jam Jar Beads, a lovely sparkly new bead shop in Sheffield.  The first one is on Mother's Day, make a nice present for your lovely Mum or bring her along with you to this workshop which is a variation on my birdie brooch workshop which I have done a few times before. The second is a shoe customisation workshop.  So if you like the sounds of any of these workshops,be sure to put your name down on the list here at Jam Jar Beads.

I'm working on doing a lot more workshops after I move house, so will keep you all posted.

Moomah

Moomah in New York is not just a cafe and artspace but a place where they run craft and art workshops for children and adults, a place where children can spend quality time with their parents.  I have dreamt of owning somewhere like this for ages and finding out about this amazing place has set my mind racing again, thinking of how I would decorate my own cafe and what workshops I would run...Maybe one day!  For now I shall just swoon at Moomah's lovely site.  (Thanks to Fabio whose site i found this on!)

... for free sewing machines (I know it's a really big ask!!).  I'm wanting to do more textile workshops this year and having sewing machines makes it possible to do so many more workshops.  If anyone has any suggestions of where I may be able to procure myself a few machines please let me know.

The past few weeks have been so busy, one of the things I did last week was a workshop for the new Sheffield W.I group called Seven Hills.  Its a younger, more current version of the traditional W.I and I did the workshop for 50 people!  I was soooo nervous beforehand - I had only only done one workshop before and that was only for 7 people. When I turned up with Sarah, they told us that a guy was gonna film it (eek!) and that the Sheffield Star where there too (arggh!).  Anyhow, I think it went OK!  I was so relieved once I'd got my demonstration bit over and done with!  Anyway, heres a couple of pics of the night!
