Build a little birdhouse in your soul...

"Not to put too fine a point on it, Say I'm the only bee in your bonnet, Make a little birdhouse in your soul"...

Here's a little DIY cardboard and pom-pomy birdhouse demo which will surely cheer up your soul (Please note, any bibliophiles watching this video and cringing at the book being cut up - it was already damaged!)

DIY Round-Up: Dolls Houses

My baby girl is growing up so quick.  She's almost 2 and already loves pretending to cook me dinners of play dough and 'looking after' her baby dolly (this usually involves giving it milk before hurling it on the floor, or grabbing it by the head and shoving it roughly into the mini pram upside down) and I guess it might not be long before she might be interested in having her own dolls house.  But have you seen how much they cost?! A bomb, is the answer.  So here are a few creative ideas to DIY an imaginative dolls residence fit for a child to explore and will save you a few quid at the same time.

Ok, so this one isnt a DIY idea but I do love it - Dual purpose - a coffee table for the grown ups and a mid-century modern dolls house for the kids.

If you go down to the woods today

Im a real country girl at heart and love images of log cabins in the woodlands.  One day I would love to live in the countryside in the woods in a cozy log cabin. (image links here)

Woodland Homes

Please can I live here!  I love these woodland homes, most of which were built in Wales.  The top house was built by Simon Dale and his father in law over the period of about 4 months, with the help of friends and family and for the cost of just £3000.  I wish I had £3000 and the determination and guts to do something like this.  Check out more images from more similar projects here.

Teeny Tiny Houses

I am totally in love with little prefab houses and could easily devote a whole new blog to them if I had time! These ones are really cute which i found on Small House Style (top pic) they are made in Texas (I know, everything from Texas is supposed to be HUGE, right!) by Discovery Architectural Antiques who have started up a new project called Tiny Texas Houses and are made from old vintage and antique woods which are salvaged and turned into these lovely teeny weeny houses. Tumbleweed Houses (bottom pic) are another maker of these wonderful tiny houses - check out their range of different sized properties. Seeing as property prices just make me feel sick at the moment, maybe this is the way forward.
