A bit of a belated post but as is my motto - better late than never, back in March it was Ned Rose Day, an annual fun day in the UK spent raising money for people less fortunate than ourselves. As I was working in a local primary school, the teachers had to customise an item of clothing or accessory at home and come to school in it on ned Nose Day. I had a pair of vile shoes that I bought in a moment of madness and so they were the victims of my customisation - I tried drawing designs on them at first as they were a horrid off white color but that frankly looked like a dogs dinner so I started messing about with my left over kawaii tape and old beads I bought in a fantastic shop in Mitte in Berlin ages ago and this was the gaudy but fun result - the children loved them and made me do a hideously embarrassing catwalk through the assembly hall to show 'em off - For sure I ain't no Kate Moss!
I was recently contacted by Zoe Murphy, the very talented designer behind these wonderful and unique pieces of furniture, wall art and textiles, who having only just completed her printed textiles degree has already been shortlisted for some prestigious awards, including New Designers and was also chosen as one of 15 designer to exhibit at this years Tent London. Zoe prints on formica, fabric and salvaged furniture pieces and is already making a name for herself on the design scene with her work already featured in The Observer and Evening Standard. I love her work, which is so bright and colorful and a real breath of fresh air (or maybe that should be fresh sea air, as Zoe is based in Margate).
Fancypicnic is a UK designer and the lovely lady behind these wonderful colorful pieces of jewellery, inspired by travelling circuses and her grandma's attic. The vibrant mix of tones,textures and colors is a real feast for the eyes. Amongst the collection are earrings, necklaces and cuffs which you can see at her Etsy shop.
